About Curtis Schomer

Husband. Father. Community Leader. Proven Results.

Curtis Schomer is a husband, father of three boys, community leader, and State Representative who believes public service should be about one thing: delivering results for the people you serve.

Curtis has spent his life working hard, raising his family, and serving the community he calls home. His background as a blue-collar worker and union leader taught him the value of showing up, listening, solving problems, and standing with working families.

That same approach guides his service in the Montana Legislature.

In his first legislative session, Curtis passed 16 bills, building relationships and working across the aisle to move practical ideas forward. His record reflects a focus on getting things accomplished rather than getting caught up in political division.

Curtis has worked to strengthen career and technical education, expand workforce and apprenticeship opportunities, support public safety, improve affordability, and address the everyday challenges facing Montana families.

But his leadership did not begin in Helena.

Curtis has spent years serving in leadership roles throughout the Billings community. His work in safety and emergency management has brought him together with law enforcement, first responders, healthcare professionals, businesses, labor organizations, and community leaders to solve problems and keep people safe.

He also spent nearly 20 years working in Montana mining and more than a decade in union leadership. That experience shaped his belief that strong communities are built by people who work hard, take care of one another, and are willing to sit down together to find solutions.

Most importantly, Curtis is a husband and proud father of three boys. Raising his family in Billings keeps him grounded in the same concerns families across House District 48 face every day: the cost of living, safe neighborhoods, good schools, strong job opportunities, and whether the next generation will be able to build a future right here in Montana.

Curtis believes leadership means listening first, working hard, bringing people together, and following through.

He has built a record as a proven community leader who delivers results — and he is ready to keep working for Billings.

Making Montana More Affordable Working families should be able to stay in the communities they helped build.

Families should not be priced out of the communities they helped build. I will keep working to lower the property-tax burden, control unnecessary government spending, address housing costs, and make it easier for Montana families to keep more of what they earn.

Safe Neighborhoods & Strong Communities Supporting law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, and the people who keep us safe.

Public safety has been a major part of my professional life. I will continue supporting the men and women on the front lines while working on practical solutions that make Billings neighborhoods safer and stronger.

Good Jobs, Apprenticeships & Career Education Creating opportunity without requiring every young person to follow the same path.

I spent nearly 20 years in the trades and know the value of learning a skill and earning a good paycheck. I have worked to expand career and technical education, apprenticeships, and workforce opportunities so Montanans can build successful careers right here at home.

Standing With Working Families Making sure the people who build Montana have a voice in Helena.

My background as a longtime blue-collar worker and union leader shapes how I approach public service. I believe in protecting good-paying jobs, respecting the dignity of work, supporting responsible employers, and making sure working families have a seat at the table.

Responsible Growth & Accountability Growing Montana without losing what makes Montana worth living in.

Growth brings opportunity, but it also puts pressure on housing, infrastructure, utilities, taxes, and neighborhoods. I believe growth should be responsible, transparent, and accountable — especially when major developments affect taxpayers and local communities.

Protecting Montana’s Way of Life Keeping public lands accessible and preserving Montana for the next generation.

Hunting, fishing, recreation, public access, and responsible stewardship are part of who we are. I will continue supporting responsible use of our natural resources while protecting the places Montanans enjoy with their families.
